'No geographic limits': Iran warns US of wider strikes after Trump's fresh threats

Iran has warned that any fresh US attack will trigger immediate retaliation without geographical limits, as Trump says American forces remain prepared for further military action

Iran has warned the United States that any fresh military attack on the Islamic Republic will invite an immediate response, with its forces prepared to strike American targets without geographical restrictions. The warning came on Saturday amid renewed threats from US President Donald Trump, who said Washington was prepared to resume military operations against Tehran if required.

Iranian Army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia said the country's armed forces were now better prepared and stronger than when the US and Israel launched the war in February. He said Iranian troops could target American military bases even beyond the region if Washington carried out further strikes.

According to news agency AFP, citing Iranian state media, Akraminia said the military would act on the instructions of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

"Today, the Islamic Republic's armed forces... having gained experience from direct confrontation with the United States and the Israeli regime, are on higher alert and are stronger than they were at the beginning of the war. They now possess greater motivation, commitment, and self-confidence," he said.

"Under the order of the Supreme Leader, the response of the armed forces will be immediate, effective, and without geographical limitations," he added.

He also said the Strait of Hormuz would reopen only if the Trump administration accepted Iran's 7 conditions.

Trump warns Iran of fresh military action

The Iranian warning followed Trump's latest remarks, in which he said the US was "locked and loaded" for another operation against Tehran.

"We're building more weapons right now in our military than we've ever built before. If we have to do the rest of the Iran thing, we're very much locked and loaded," Trump said on Friday.

While expressing reluctance to launch another attack, he added, "I would rather not destroy the rest of the country, if possible, but maybe I'll have to."

Trump also defended the earlier military campaign, saying he would "do it again" if faced with the same decision.

US carries out fresh limited strikes on Iran

Trump later confirmed that American forces had conducted limited strikes targeting an Iranian air defence system.

"They knocked out—they built a little bit of an anti-aircraft device and we knocked it out in about 15 minutes, maybe five," he told reporters in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Iranian state media reported 2 explosions in the Suza area of Qeshm Island, a strategic location along the oil-shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire are continuing. US Vice President JD Vance has reportedly been involved in indirect negotiations, while Qatar is mediating discussions on proposals concerning Iran's nuclear programme.
