Mutilated body of girl found in Bengal's North 24 Parganas, police launch probe

The body of a Class-11 girl was found in a mutilated condition outside a neighbour’s house in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Sunday, police said.

Girl left cultural programme after late-night call

She had gone to watch a cultural programme near her house on Saturday night, but received a call around 11.30 pm and left the event, according to her family members.

SIT to investigate the case

SP J Mercy said a special investigation team (SIT) would be constituted to probe the matter from all angles.

The family members have also alleged that she had been raped and murdered.

Police deployed after local protest

A large police contingent was deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident, as locals staged a protest, another officer said.
