Mahua Moitra alleges officials asked her to vacate Circuit House

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Friday night alleged that the local administration asked her to vacate her room at the Krishnanagar Circuit House, even as she claimed that a large crowd gathered outside the premises and raised "Jai Shri Ram" slogans. Moitra, the Lok Sabha MP from Krishnanagar, said she had checked into the Circuit House at around 6.30 pm and had been allotted the room where she usually stayed.

According to the TMC leader, she was served dinner at around 9.20 pm. However, at 9.47 pm, she allegedly received a call from the Additional District Magistrate asking her to vacate the accommodation. She later claimed that a message containing an order directing her to leave the Circuit House was sent to her at around 10.52 pm.

Moitra refuses to leave

Moitra took to social media to question the administration's action, pointing out that she remained an elected MP and was staying at official accommodation in her own constituency.

She said she had refused to comply with the request to leave and accused the administration of trying to keep Opposition representatives out of the area.

The TMC MP also alleged that officials continued calling and messaging her late into the night, asking her to vacate the room.

Moitra said Parliament's Monsoon Session had concluded a day earlier and she had returned to her constituency.

Crowd gathers outside

As the dispute continued, Moitra claimed that a large crowd had assembled outside the gates of the Circuit House and was chanting "Jai Shri Ram".

She posted updates about the situation on social media and maintained that she would not leave despite the alleged pressure from the local administration.

Moitra also referred to a recent Supreme Court observation while asserting that she would not back down.

The TMC leader linked the alleged eviction attempt to her presence in the constituency and claimed that efforts were being made to prevent Opposition MPs and leaders from remaining in the area.

There was no immediate detailed response from the district administration to Moitra's allegations.
