A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district on Saturday night, sending strong tremors across the Uttarkashi town and the Yamunotri valley.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake, measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale, struck at 8.07 pm, with its epicentre located 2 km northwest of Uttarkashi at a depth of 11 km.
