A local court has sentenced five men, including three brothers, to life imprisonment for the murder of a man stemming from election-related rivalry. The verdict was delivered on Saturday by Additional District Judge Ram Kripal, according to a statement from the police on Sunday. The convicted men—Ramesh Yadav, Janardan Yadav, Suresh Yadav (the three brothers), along with Anil Yadav and Ram Vilas—were found guilty of the 2015 killing. Each convict was fined Rs 18,500, as confirmed by Superintendent of Police Vikrant Vir.

The prosecution revealed that on October 17, 2015, in Ramgarh village, Ramnath Yadav and Kanta Yadav were shot and killed for their support of a candidate in the local panchayat elections. Following Ramnath’s death, Rajesh Yadav lodged a complaint, leading to the arrest and conviction of the five men. The court’s decision marks the conclusion of the case, underscoring the severity of election-related violence in the region.
