35-year-old man shot dead over alleged poll rivalry in Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur
A 35-year-old man was shot dead in an alleged poll-related attack in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur district on Wednesday, police reported. The incident occurred in Asarakhpur village, located in the Baldisarai area, when the victim, Icchanath Yadav, went to the fields early in the morning. The assailants, who were reportedly hiding in the fields, opened fire on Yadav, killing him instantly, according to police sources. Upon hearing the gunshots, Yadav's family rushed to the scene, but the attackers had fled by the time they arrived.
Senior police officials, including Additional SP Akhand Pratap Singh, reached the site after being informed of the incident. Singh confirmed that an FIR will be registered based on the family's complaint. Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder may have been driven by a poll rivalry, but a more thorough investigation is currently underway to establish the exact motive behind the killing.
