NEET-PG 2026 hit by power failure at Jaipur centres; re-exam on September 5

Technical disruptions during the NEET-PG 2026 examination at two centres in Jaipur on Sunday triggered protests by candidates, who alleged that computer systems repeatedly shut down during the crucial entrance test.

The problems were reported at two iON Digital Zone centres in Sitapura, where candidates said the examination, scheduled to begin at 9 am, was delayed before repeated system failures disrupted the test. Some aspirants claimed their computers shut down six to seven times, while others alleged that they faced even more frequent interruptions.

Candidates said that whenever the systems were restarted, they were able to access only a few questions before the computers went down again. The repeated disruptions eventually prompted several aspirants to come out of the examination centre and protest against what they described as inadequate technical arrangements.

Candidates question fairness of exam

The protesting aspirants alleged that centre officials failed to provide a clear explanation for the repeated glitches or tell them how the disruption would be addressed. They also raised concerns over the fairness and confidentiality of the examination, claiming that questions had appeared on some computer screens before the systems shut down.

Candidates demanded an impartial inquiry into the episode and urged the examination authorities to ensure that no aspirant suffered academically because of failures in the technical infrastructure. They argued that an examination as consequential as NEET-PG required systems capable of operating without repeated interruptions.

Gunjan, one of the candidates, said aspirants pay a substantial examination fee and expect adequate arrangements for an uninterrupted test. Candidates also pointed out that many aspirants had spent one or two years preparing for NEET-PG and feared that technical failures beyond their control could affect their performance and future prospects.

Police reach centres after protest

The disruption and subsequent protest led to commotion outside the examination centre, following which police and administration officials reached the spot.

ACP Jaipur South Lalit Sharma said police personnel were present to maintain law and order amid the protest. Candidates, meanwhile, continued to seek clarity from the examination authorities on how the affected attempts would be treated and what measures would be taken to address their concerns.
