Hundreds of litres of milk poured out in Amritsar as farmers protest inaction over milk adulteration
Irked by alleged inaction against shops selling adulterated milk in and around Amritsar, dairy farmers on Monday dumped hundreds of litres of milk on the premises of the district administration complex here. Protesters alleged majority of shops in the city were allegedly selling adulterated milk, also claiming that products like cheese made out of such degraded milk may be harmful for health. They further alleged that sweet makers and other small dairy product sellers are allegedly selling synthetic milk at a cheaper rate. They accused the district administration of not taking action against those selling adulterated and synthetic milk. They also alleged that without the support of certain officials of the department concerned, such activities are not possible. Protesting farmers warned of a statewide protest if district authorities failed to check the supply of adulterated milk in the city.
