AAP announces candidates for Punjab's November 13 assembly bypolls across four seats
On Sunday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its list of candidates for the upcoming bypolls on November 13, covering four assembly seats in Punjab. The list was shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon, who left the Shiromani Akali Dal in August to join AAP, has been fielded from the Gidderbaha seat. Meanwhile, Ishaan Chabbewal, son of AAP Hoshiarpur MP Raj Kumar Chabbewal, will contest from the Chabbewal (SC) constituency. Harinder Singh Dhaliwal is AAP’s candidate for the Barnala seat, and Gurdeep Singh Randhawa will run from Dera Baba Nanak.
The bypolls were triggered by the election of the sitting MLAs to the Lok Sabha. Gidderbaha's former Congress MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring won the Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat, and Raj Kumar Chabbewal, who switched to AAP from Congress, was elected from Hoshiarpur. Additionally, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, former Congress MLA from Dera Baba Nanak, won the Gurdaspur seat, while AAP's Barnala MLA Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer secured a victory in Sangrur. The vote counting for these bypolls will take place on November 23.
