CM Fadnavis vows action against those behind firing at Tiger Shroff, says no one will be spared

CM Fadnavis confirms legal process to pursue Lawrence Bishnoi as police investigate Tiger Shroff firing

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has vowed strict action against those responsible for the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, saying the police have identified specific individuals and expect to arrest them soon. He also warned that those allegedly directing the attack from outside Maharashtra or abroad would be pursued through legal channels.

Addressing a press conference, Fadnavis described the incident as serious and condemnable, and said Mumbai Police had obtained important clues during the investigation. He assured that neither the individuals involved nor any gang behind the attack would be spared.

“Regardless of the gang or the individual involved, no one will be spared. If anyone attempts to operate through such threats, the Mumbai Police knows exactly how to set them straight,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that the police would continue investigating beyond the immediate perpetrators to identify those who allegedly planned the attack and issued instructions from a distance.

Police pursuing suspects and alleged masterminds

Fadnavis said investigators had already identified certain individuals based on the clues collected and expected arrests shortly.

“This is a very serious and condemnable matter. The Mumbai Police have taken it with the utmost seriousness. They have obtained certain clues, based on which they are currently working, and specific individuals have already been identified. These people will be arrested very soon,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the investigation would extend to the alleged masterminds, whom he claimed were operating from outside Maharashtra or even from abroad. According to him, those operating within the state had already been arrested.

“Furthermore, we will track down their masterminds who remain in hiding and issue orders from afar. It is important to note that none of these individuals operate from within Maharashtra; those who do operate from within the state have already been arrested,” Fadnavis said.

He added that the state government would coordinate with other states to trace those operating outside Maharashtra. The Central Government's assistance would be sought to pursue suspects based overseas.

“These perpetrators are operating from outside Maharashtra, or even from outside the country. By coordinating with the states from which they operate, and with the assistance of the Central Government regarding those operating from abroad, we will track them down and take strict action against them,” he said.

Fadnavis also confirmed that a request had been sent in connection with efforts to take gangster Lawrence Bishnoi into custody, with the legal process currently under way.

“We have already sent the request and action is currently underway. That is why I said, no matter where their masterminds might be hiding, the due legal process must be followed. The Mumbai Police has demonstrated in the past that no matter where such perpetrators may be hiding in the world, the Mumbai Police will track them down,” he said.

Police have formed 15 teams to investigate the firing and trace the assailants. Although claims linking the attack to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have circulated on social media, the authenticity of those claims has not been independently verified by the police.

Tiger Shroff escapes gunshot injuries in Juhu firing

The firing took place on Sunday evening in Mumbai's Juhu area. According to the police, unidentified assailants opened fire at the actor's car at around 7pm as he was leaving a football club.

A case has been registered against three unidentified individuals under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.

Tiger escaped without any gunshot injuries, while two people, including his driver, were injured in the incident. The injured were taken for medical treatment.

Following the shooting, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor's residence on Sunday night to enquire about his well-being and assure him of the state government's support.

Photographs from the residence showed Tiger with dressings on his shoulder and chest and a bandage on his right arm as he interacted with Shinde. His mother, Ayesha Shroff, was also present. Shinde condemned the attack and warned that such acts of intimidation would not be tolerated in Mumbai.

Security of actors to be reviewed

Fadnavis said the government would examine every aspect of the firing incident to determine whether additional security measures were necessary for actors.

“Everything related to this incident will be analysed. Whatever is necessary will be done. I believe the Mumbai Police is regarded as a highly professional force. They will take all the necessary steps following an incident like this,” he said.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence in Mumbai Police, describing the force as highly professional and saying it would take all necessary steps in response to the incident.

The shooting has also renewed concerns about the security of prominent figures in Mumbai, with authorities investigating the attack and the possible involvement of organised criminal networks.

Fadnavis hits back at Opposition over law and order criticism

Fadnavis also criticised opposition parties for questioning the state government's handling of law and order. He accused them of misusing the police when they were in power and said both the public and the film industry continued to trust Mumbai Police.

“The opposition parties should look inward at their own conduct. These are the same people under whose tenure the government itself used the police to carry out murders. Perhaps they have forgotten the murder of Mansukh Hiren. Perhaps they have forgotten how they profited from transfers and postings, or how their own ministers ended up in jail,” he said.

Referring to the explosives found outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence in 2021, Fadnavis alleged that the police under the previous government had been involved in planting bombs outside the industrialist's home.

“Under their watch, even the country's most prominent industrialist was not safe because their police were planting bombs right outside his home,” he said.

Fadnavis concluded by reiterating his confidence in the police force despite the Opposition's criticism.

“So, regardless of what they might say, I am certain that the public has faith in the Mumbai Police. Even Bollywood trusts the Mumbai Police,” he said.
