Mother and daughter found dead after house collapse in Morena; Probe ongoing for blast cause
The bodies of a woman and her daughter were recovered on Sunday morning from the rubble of a house that collapsed in Morena city, Madhya Pradesh, according to local police reports. The collapse occurred around noon on Saturday, with authorities initially suspecting an LPG cylinder explosion as the cause. However, officials have since clarified that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted before any conclusions are drawn.
Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Ravi Bhadoria said the bodies were found after a meticulous 21-hour rescue operation. "The rescue had to be carried out with extreme caution to prevent damage to nearby structures, as the area is densely populated," Bhadoria explained.
Regarding the cause of the explosion, Bhadoria stated that forensic experts have collected evidence from the scene. "We discovered a cylinder, an exploded battery, and parts of a deep freezer with a compressor in the debris. All evidence will be analyzed before determining the cause," he added. The explosion and subsequent collapse occurred in the Islampura area of Morena. Teams from the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF), the fire brigade, and local civic authorities quickly responded to the incident.
Early investigations suggest an LPG cylinder might have triggered the explosion, but media reports speculating about a firecracker factory being involved were dismissed by the police, as no such evidence has been uncovered. The inquiry into the cause of the blast is ongoing, with authorities considering all potential angles.
