Contaminated diesel stalls 19 vehicles in Madhya Pradesh CM’s convoy; petrol pump sealed
Ratlam: Nineteen SUVs in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s convoy broke down late Thursday after being refuelled with diesel suspected to be mixed with water, forcing some vehicles to stop immediately and others to stop on the highway. The convoy, en route from Indore to Ratlam for the RISE Conclave, halted at a local petrol station when engines began jerking and cutting out. Later, the drivers found out that the diesel tanks contained visible water layers. A sample taken by officials from the food and civil supplies department confirmed water contamination, prompting authorities to seal the station. An investigation has been launched to determine whether rainwater may have seeped into underground storage tanks. Officials are also auditing fuel records and current stock levels, with findings to be submitted to the district collector. A replacement convoy was arranged from Indore, ensuring the CM's schedule remained unaffected. However, the incident drew criticism from the opposition, with Congress spokesperson and former MLA Shailendra Patel stating on X:“Adulterated diesel in the CM’s convoy! 19 vehicles stalled … this isn’t an ordinary incident, this exposes the rot in the system.”
