Security forces engage terrorists in two separate operations in Jammu and Kashmir
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have engaged in two intense operations targeting suspected terrorists in the districts of Rajouri and Kupwara, resulting in the likely neutralization of several militants.
Rajouri Encounter
An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists late Wednesday night in the Rajouri district. The operation was initiated at approximately 9:30 PM in response to suspected militant activity in the villages of Kheri Mohra Lathi and Danthal. Around 11:45 PM, contact was established with the terrorists, leading to an exchange of fire. Security forces, in their efforts to secure the area, fired tracer rounds to illuminate the vicinity. Reports indicate that two to three terrorists are believed to be holed up within the cordoned area. Reinforcements have been deployed to strengthen the operation.
This operation followed an earlier incident on Monday night when Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in Meira-Nagrota village reported suspicious activity, prompting security forces to launch a search operation.
Kupwara Operations
In separate anti-infiltration operations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district, security forces reportedly killed three terrorists. The operations, conducted in the Machhal and Tangdhar areas, were launched based on intelligence inputs regarding potential infiltration attempts.
The Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that suspicious movement in both areas was met with effective firing by the troops. In Machhal, two terrorists are believed to have been neutralized, while another was reportedly killed in Tangdhar. The operations are ongoing as security forces continue to monitor the situation closely.
These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in countering terrorist activities in the region.
