SHO found dead inside police station with gunshot wound to the chest

A station house officer was found dead with a gunshot wound inside a police station in Haryana’s Ambala district on Saturday, with investigators examining the possibility that he died by suicide. Naggal SHO Karmveer Singh was found with a bullet injury to his chest inside the police station. His service weapon was recovered from near the body, police said.

Police probe circumstances of death

Senior officials reached the police station after being informed about the incident and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Singh’s death. Police said suicide is among the possibilities being examined, but investigators have not reached a final conclusion and other angles remain under scrutiny. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, which is expected to provide further details about the cause and circumstances of death.

Singh, who hailed from Kurukshetra, had been serving as the SHO of Naggal police station for around a year. Police are expected to examine the available evidence from the station as part of the investigation to establish the sequence of events leading to his death.
