'People fed up with AAP, BJP will form government in 2027 Assembly polls', says Haryana CM Saini

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday claimed there was growing discontent among people in neighbouring Punjab against the Aam Aadmi Party government and expressed confidence that the BJP would come to power in the state in the 2027 Assembly elections.

Speaking on the sidelines of a District Public Relations and Grievances Committee meeting, Saini alleged that attempts were being made to suppress people who raised their voices over serious issues in Punjab. He claimed voters had earlier opted for a change after the Congress government and were now becoming disillusioned with the AAP administration. “There is now discontent among the people over the Aam Aadmi Party government as well,” he said, asserting that people in Punjab had faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and would give the BJP an opportunity to govern the state in the next Assembly polls.

Saini predicts BJP victory in Punjab

Punjab is scheduled to hold Assembly elections in early 2027, and the BJP has been working to expand its political footprint in a state where it was traditionally a junior partner of the Shiromani Akali Dal before the alliance collapsed in 2020. The party contested the 2022 Assembly elections without the SAD but failed to make major gains as AAP swept to power. Saini's remarks reflect the BJP's attempt to position itself as an alternative to both AAP and Congress ahead of the next electoral battle.

The Haryana chief minister alleged that those speaking out on important issues in Punjab were facing attempts to silence them, though he did not elaborate on specific instances. He maintained that the political mood in the state was changing and argued that the BJP would benefit from dissatisfaction with the incumbent government. His comments come as political parties begin stepping up organisational and public outreach efforts months ahead of the Punjab election.

13 complaints disposed of at meeting

Turning to governance issues in Haryana, Saini said the objective of the Grievances Committee meetings was to provide better administration and ensure that citizens' complaints were resolved promptly. Officials were being given directions on the spot after grievances were heard, he said, adding that district administrations had been instructed to dispose of complaints within stipulated timelines. A total of 13 complaints were resolved during Saturday's meeting, according to an official statement.

In one case, Anand Vihar resident Vijay Kumar told the committee that Flat No. 387 in Sector 21 had been allotted to him and that he had deposited the prescribed amount and received an allotment letter, but physical possession had still not been handed over. He also complained that basic facilities such as sewerage, water and electricity connections were unavailable. Saini directed officials to refund the amount with interest, as sought by the complainant, and ordered that all pending refund cases be cleared within a month. He also called for an inquiry to determine whether any official was responsible for negligence and directed that action be taken in accordance with rules if lapses were established.

CM orders action on assault, crop claim complaints

Another complainant, Pawan Kumar, alleged that his wife and children had been assaulted but effective police action had not followed despite a complaint. He further alleged that instead of proceeding against those responsible for the assault, authorities were harassing him and his family. Saini directed officials to hear both sides, investigate the allegations and take necessary action based on the findings.

Ram Gopal, a resident of Kanwarpura village, meanwhile, complained that an insurance premium of about Rs 76,960.31 had been deducted from his account under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana but he had not received the insurance claim for his cotton crop, even though other eligible farmers in the village had received payments. Saini directed officials to examine the case thoroughly, rectify any technical problem and ensure that the farmer receives the claim if found eligible.

The chief minister said resolving public grievances remained a priority for his government and directed officers to ensure that complaints were not allowed to remain pending unnecessarily. He stressed that grievance committee meetings should result in concrete and time-bound action rather than merely recording complaints, while warning that accountability would be fixed where official negligence was established.
