'I felt unsafe on Gurugram roads': Woman biker shares video of car hitting her bike

A woman biker in Gurugram has alleged that a car hit her sports motorcycle and fled after she asked its occupants to maintain their distance while riding on Golf Course Road.

The collision knocked the rider off her bike, while her motorcycle was dragged along the road for several metres. The incident was captured on an action camera fitted to her motorcycle and was later shared online.

The rider, who identifies herself as Sia and runs the Instagram page 'rebelwheels_sia_', said she felt unsafe on the city's roads following the incident.

"I have nothing to say, but today I felt unsafe on Gurugram roads. People like these aren't afraid of hitting people and running away."

Rider alleges car followed her

According to Sia, the incident happened on Sunday while she was riding an Aprilia RS 457 with members of her biking group.

She alleged that the car's occupants had been following her and behaving aggressively during the ride. Sia said she asked them to stay away, but they allegedly told her to stop. She also claimed the men appeared to be drunk.

The rider said she continued moving to avoid allowing the car to block her path. A friend riding behind her also tried to keep the vehicle from coming alongside her motorcycle.

Sia alleged that the car eventually moved in front of her bike in an attempt to cut her off. The vehicle then struck her motorcycle before speeding away, according to her account.

Friend confronts driver at signal

Sia said one of her friends followed the car and managed to confront its driver at a traffic signal.

The friend reportedly told the driver that the crash was his fault. However, according to Sia, the driver denied responsibility and left the spot.

Rider appeals to police

Sia appealed to the Gurugram Police to act against motorists who put other road users at risk and leave after accidents. She also shared the vehicle's registration number and the name of its registered owner.

The video has since drawn widespread reactions online, with users tagging Gurugram Police, Gurugram Traffic Police, Delhi Police and Haryana Police. Several called for action against the driver and sought registration of an FIR, while others raised concerns about road safety and rash driving.
