Haryana signs ₹4,000 crore LoIs with Swedish firms during Nayab Saini’s visit
Haryana has signed Letters of Intent (LoIs) worth ₹4,000 crore with Swedish companies during Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s visit to Sweden, with the proposed investments covering urban development, retail, warehousing and logistics.
According to an official spokesperson, the agreements are expected to strengthen economic cooperation between Haryana and Sweden, open new avenues for trade and investment, and generate employment opportunities in the state.
Of the total proposed investment, ₹3,000 crore has been committed under an LoI linked to a city-to-city collaboration between Gurugram and Stockholm. A further ₹1,000 crore in LoIs has been agreed for the retail and warehousing sectors.
The Haryana government said the engagements would help establish a stronger long-term partnership with Sweden and create opportunities for local businesses and skilled workers.
Gurugram and Stockholm to collaborate on smart city development
A key outcome of Saini’s visit was an agreement to promote cooperation between Gurugram and Stockholm. The two cities are expected to work together on technological innovation, smart city solutions, sustainable urban development, knowledge exchange and investment promotion.
The collaboration is intended to facilitate the sharing of expertise and strengthen long-term ties between the two urban centres. The state government signed an LoI worth ₹3,000 crore in connection with this initiative.
The proposed partnership is expected to provide a platform for cooperation in urban planning and technology-led development, while also encouraging investment between the two cities.
Retail and warehousing agreements worth ₹1,000 crore
The remaining LoIs, worth ₹1,000 crore, cover the retail and warehousing sectors.
According to the official spokesperson, the proposed investments are expected to support the development of modern warehousing infrastructure, facilitate the expansion of retail chains and attract fresh investment into Haryana’s logistics sector.
The agreements could also strengthen the infrastructure required to support retail operations and supply chains, as the state seeks to expand its industrial and commercial activities.
Haryana seeks stronger trade ties and employment opportunities
Beyond the investment proposals, the visit included discussions aimed at increasing bilateral trade and promoting economic cooperation between Haryana and Sweden.
Swedish companies have assured the state that they will provide employment opportunities for Haryana’s skilled youth, the spokesperson said. The proposed cooperation is also expected to create avenues for skill development and training aligned with international standards.
The Haryana government said the engagement could help young people access new employment opportunities while strengthening the state’s links with Swedish businesses and expertise.
Sikh community delegation meets Saini in Sweden
During the visit, a delegation representing the Sikh community settled in Sweden also met Saini at India House.
The meeting took place alongside the chief minister’s engagements with Swedish companies and other stakeholders as Haryana sought to deepen its international economic partnerships.
The state government has presented the visit as an opportunity to expand investment, encourage knowledge exchange and strengthen commercial ties between Haryana and Sweden.
