Haryana reopens MFMB portal for Kharif farmers as CM Nayab Saini promises paddy procurement

Haryana has reopened its crop registration window for farmers who missed the deadline for registering their Kharif-2026 crops, with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assuring farmers that every grain of paddy produced in the state will be procured.

The ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ (MFMB) portal will remain open from September 21 to September 27. The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department took the decision after receiving representations from farmers who could not complete registration within the stipulated period and were subsequently facing difficulties in accessing the procurement process. The original registration deadline was July 31.

Eligible farmers can register their land and crop details themselves through the portal or approach the office of the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil), where officials will assist with the process.

The government has asked farmers to provide complete and accurate information, including land particulars and the area under cultivation, to avoid problems during verification and the subsequent sale of their produce.

Verification to be completed within three days

Registration will not become valid immediately after the details are submitted. The land and crop information will be checked through satellite data and field-level inspections, with the concerned SDM required to complete the verification within a maximum of three days.

According to departmental instructions, farmers who missed registration can submit a written application to the SDM along with details such as Khewat and Khasra numbers and the cultivated area. Following verification through the concerned revenue officials, eligible production details will be generated and shared with the e-Kharid portal to facilitate participation in procurement.

Authorities have also been directed to prevent duplicate registration. Land or crop areas already registered for Kharif-2026 cannot be registered again. If a particular parcel has already been claimed by another farmer, the disputed area will be restricted from fresh registration. Farmers can raise such grievances through the designated farmer login.

The state has asked district commissioners and agriculture officials to monitor the verification and data-uploading process on a daily basis so that eligible farmers are not excluded from procurement because of delays in registration.

Paddy accounts for around 34 lakh registered acres

The latest MFMB data show that around nine lakh farmers have registered approximately 57 lakh acres under Kharif crops, including paddy, cotton and bajra.

Non-basmati paddy, or Parmal, accounts for around 24 lakh acres registered by 3,85,442 farmers. The state has separately ordered field-level verification of this area ahead of paddy procurement scheduled to begin on October 1.

Another two lakh farmers have registered 10,04,801 acres under Basmati varieties. Taken together, the registered area under Basmati and non-Basmati paddy stands at around 34 lakh acres.

The portal data also show that about one lakh farmers have registered five lakh acres under cotton, while around three lakh farmers have registered approximately 13 lakh acres under bajra.

The government said departmental officers and employees would provide assistance to farmers throughout the September 21 to 27 registration window.

Haryana is also preparing procurement arrangements for other Kharif crops. According to a state government release, procurement of moong will begin on October 1 across 38 mandis, while procurement of soybean is scheduled from October 15 and groundnut from November 1. Arhar, urd and til procurement is scheduled to begin on December 1.

Nayab Saini warns officials against procurement lapses

The reopening of the MFMB portal was also announced by Saini during a meeting with farmers, commission agents, traders, rice millers and administrative officials at the Babain Market Committee office.

Reviewing preparations for the paddy procurement season, the chief minister directed the Food and Supplies Department and mandi administration to make arrangements to ensure that farmers do not face inconvenience.

Saini warned that strict action would be taken against officials if negligence was found during the procurement process. He said the government would ensure procurement of every grain of paddy produced by farmers.

He also said the state was procuring all 24 crops covered under its minimum support price regime. Vegetable growers, he added, were being covered under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana.

The state government has also been preparing procurement infrastructure ahead of the Kharif marketing season. In an earlier review, officials said procurement agencies had been directed to ensure adequate storage and gunny-bag availability. Haryana has been using biometric authentication through point-of-sale machines for procurement under the Price Support Scheme since the Rabi 2025-26 season.

The reopening of MFMB registration is intended to give farmers who were left out of the initial process an opportunity to complete verification before procurement begins, particularly for paddy, for which government procurement is scheduled from October 1.
