Haryana government provided 46,500 jobs in two years, says CM Nayab Saini
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the BJP government had provided 46,500 government jobs to young people over the past two years through a transparent, merit-based recruitment process. He was addressing a press conference in Chandigarh to mark the completion of two years of the BJP government's third consecutive term in the state.
Saini said the government had also extended service security to contractual employees, guest faculty members in technical education institutions, extension lecturers in colleges and guest professors.
He added that the promotion quota for clerical posts for Common Cadre Group-D employees with more than five years of service had been increased from 20% to 30%.
76 of 217 poll promises fulfilled
Reviewing the government's progress on its election commitments, Saini said 76 of the 217 promises made in the BJP's ‘Sankalp Patra’ during the last Assembly elections had been fulfilled within two years. Work was under way to implement the remaining 141 promises, he added.
The chief minister also highlighted the government's support for sportspersons. Over the past two years, cash awards worth ₹147.16 crore had been distributed among 1,319 medal-winning athletes. In addition, 42 sportspersons had been given government jobs.
Saini said that over the past 12 years, the state government had awarded cash prizes totalling ₹742 crore to 17,544 sportspersons in recognition of their achievements.
Women benefit from livelihood and drone schemes
Saini said 2.9 lakh women had attained ‘lakhpati didi’ status under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, which aims to strengthen women's financial independence and expand livelihood opportunities.
Under the Namo Drone Didi Yojana, 141 women had received training and drones free of cost. Another 100 women would soon be provided the same facility, he said.
The scheme offers free training and drones costing up to ₹8 lakh, enabling women to use modern technology and explore additional livelihood opportunities.
Free dialysis services at government hospitals
The chief minister also highlighted the provision of free dialysis services for kidney patients at all government district hospitals and medical colleges across Haryana, introduced on October 18, 2024.
Saini said the initiative was intended to ease the financial burden on people suffering from kidney-related ailments and ensure they could access essential treatment at government healthcare institutions.
