Haryana Congress appoints 104 block chiefs; no woman in list

To further strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level, Haryana Congress on Wednesday announced the appointments of 104 block presidents. The list of the newly appointed Block Congress Committee presidents was released by the state Congress chief, Rao Narender Singh. "Based on the recommendations received from District Congress Committee presidents, senior party leaders, dedicated party workers, and after discussions with B K Hariprasad, AICC In-charge, Haryana, the appointments of the Block Congress Committee presidents are hereby approved with immediate effect to further strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level," Singh said. Notably, no woman figures in the list of the block presidents, though appointments for the remaining 76 blocks are still to be made. In August 2025, the Congress announced the names of 32 presidents for the party's district committees in Haryana. Like the fresh appointments made on Wednesday, those appointments had also been made after a long gap, as the Congress did not have a district-level organisation in the state for over a decade. The previous district and block committees were dissolved in 2014. While the district presidents were appointed last year, the block ones have been appointed now.
