Haryana CM urges youth to turn ideas into startups, promises govt support

Nayab Singh Saini pitches ‘Idea to Enterprise and Enterprise to Employment’ model, says Haryana’s 12,500 startups can help build a wider entrepreneurship ecosystem

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday urged young people to turn innovative ideas into startups and businesses, assuring them of government support through funding, technical assistance, training, mentorship and market guidance. Addressing the Gen-H Startup Summit-Yuva Udyami Chaupal at Gurugram University, Saini said technology, innovation and fresh ideas would play a central role in shaping Haryana’s future.

The Chief Minister said the State had no shortage of talent but young entrepreneurs needed the right guidance, resources and institutional support to transform ideas into successful enterprises. He outlined the government’s approach as “Idea to Enterprise and Enterprise to Employment”, with startups expected not only to create livelihoods for their founders but also generate jobs for others.

Target to double startups

Saini said Haryana currently has around 12,500 startups and urged each of them to inspire the creation of at least one more enterprise, potentially taking the number beyond 25,000. He said the government was working to bring educational institutions, industries, startups and social organisations together to create a stronger entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The summit included six master classrooms where successful entrepreneurs shared practical lessons on establishing and scaling businesses. Around 50 participants were trained in each classroom. Banks provided information on loans and financial assistance, while experts from Skill University offered training and guidance.

Saini stressed that entrepreneurship training should be connected with real-world business experience. He called for trained young people to be linked with micro, small and medium enterprises so they could understand how businesses function and learn from challenges faced by established entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister also said young people should remain abreast of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics if they wanted to compete globally. He encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to look beyond Haryana and India while developing products and businesses.

Yatra to reach districts

At the event, Saini launched the “Yuva Udyamita Yatra”, which will take the entrepreneurship campaign beyond Gurugram to colleges, universities, Industrial Training Institutes and coaching centres across Haryana. Officials have been asked to finalise routes and create awareness about the initiative among educational institutions.

The programme will also include exhibitions and bank stalls to help aspiring entrepreneurs understand financing options and government assistance. Saini said the objective was to create a streamlined support mechanism so that young people knew where to seek help at different stages of building a startup.

The Gen-H initiative has already generated more than 45,000 ideas through its Ideathon, while around 400 young entrepreneurs participated in roundtable discussions at the summit.

Saini said failures and setbacks should be treated as part of the entrepreneurial journey rather than reasons to abandon an idea. Even a small enterprise, he said, could grow substantially through persistence and innovation. The government’s objective was to ensure that young people with promising ideas received the opportunity and support required to turn them into viable businesses.
