Haryana announces Census 2027 schedule, population enumeration to begin on January 25

Haryana to conduct population enumeration from January 25 to February 28, 2027

Haryana has notified the schedule for the second phase of Census 2027, with residents set to get an option to submit their household details online before the state-wide population enumeration exercise begins on January 25, 2027.

Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sumita Misra, who is also the state's nodal officer for Census 2027, announced that the self-enumeration facility would remain available from January 10 to 24, 2027.

The main population enumeration exercise will be conducted across Haryana from January 25 to February 28, 2027, followed by a five-day revisional round between March 1 and 5.

Three stages of population enumeration

Under the notified schedule, residents will first be able to provide their information through the self-enumeration facility during the 15-day window in January. This will allow households to submit their details in advance of the door-to-door exercise.

The subsequent population enumeration will cover households across the state, with enumerators undertaking the main exercise over a period of more than a month.

A revisional round will then be conducted from March 1 to 5 to identify omissions and address discrepancies in the collected information.

Digital exercise and preparations across Haryana

Census 2027 is being conducted in two phases, with the first phase covering house listing and the housing census, while the second phase focuses on population enumeration.

According to information shared by the government earlier, Haryana is preparing to conduct the population count across approximately 70,000 enumeration blocks in 23 districts, covering 6,522 villages and 88 towns.

The exercise is expected to involve around 87,450 personnel, including 74,800 enumerators and 12,650 supervisors, including reserve personnel.

The population enumeration process will use digital tools, including mobile applications for field personnel, an online self-enumeration portal and a centralised monitoring system.

The reference date for Census 2027 has been fixed at midnight on March 1, 2027. Even households that opt for self-enumeration will be covered by subsequent verification visits by enumerators.
