Gurugram hit-and-run row: Biker questions accused’s 'felt sorry' claim

A Delhi woman injured after a car allegedly rammed into her motorcycle during a road rage incident in Gurugram has questioned the suspect’s claim that he felt sorry for her.

The incident took place on Golf Course Road on Sunday and was captured on video. The footage later went viral on social media, prompting police action.

The woman, who identifies herself as Sia on Instagram, posted another video on Monday night responding to comments made by the accused, Kalyan Bainsla. She said she could have suffered much more serious injuries or even died in the crash.

“If you felt so sorry for me, why did you not stop at that time?” Sia asked.

She said anyone who hits another person on the road has a responsibility to stop and check whether they need medical assistance.

Sia disputes accused’s version

Bainsla, a gym owner in Palwal and former kabaddi player, told a TV channel that he did not know a woman was riding the motorcycle and that he had not hit her intentionally.

“I felt sorry for her after the incident. She was repeatedly accelerating and then slowing down,” he said.

Sia rejected his explanation and said the circumstances shown in the videos contradicted his version.

“You obviously saw my hair. I have very long hair and a braid. You came, took action, and asked me to stop the bike,” she said.

She also pointed to footage that allegedly shows the car following her before moving towards her motorcycle.

Police say suspect was chasing biker

According to police, Sia was riding with a group of bikers when Bainsla allegedly began following her and repeatedly signalled her to stop. Police said he drove dangerously close to her motorcycle and “appeared to be drunk”.

Footage appears to show the car swerving towards Sia’s motorcycle and hitting it. One of her friends reportedly chased the vehicle and managed to intercept it, but the driver allegedly sped away. Two other people were also in the car.

Sia said the people in the vehicle did not stop after the collision to check whether she was injured.

She also criticised Bainsla for focusing on the number of people visible in the videos and said the footage clearly showed what happened.

Police teams searching for accused

Sia’s father said she would file a police complaint on Tuesday. He said he learnt about the crash after news channels began reporting it and described the incident as threatening for his daughter.

Assistant police commissioner Dharambir Singh said Sia’s statement was expected to be recorded on Tuesday.

“Her lawyer and family members are in touch with police now. The suspect is on the run. Multiple teams have been formed to arrest him at the earliest.”
