61 flights cancelled amid low visibility; Air India cancels 19 flights; IndiGo issues advisory

As many as 40 flights were cancelled and four others diverted at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday, December 15, due to poor visibility, news agency ANI quoted airport authorities as saying. Flight operations were severely disrupted as a dense layer of smog continued to envelop the national capital and neighbouring regions, pushing air quality into the ‘severe’ category. The sharp drop in visibility also affected train services across the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange’ alert for dense smog in Delhi today.

Delhi Airport issues advisory

Amid low-visibility conditions, Delhi Airport issued an advisory for passengers, cautioning that flight schedules could be impacted. “Due to dense fog, flight operations may experience disruptions,” the airport said in a post on X, adding that it was working closely with all stakeholders to minimise inconvenience to travellers. Passengers were advised to check the latest flight status with their respective airlines. “We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused,” the airport said.
