Delhi govt to launch 500 creches for children of women labourers on PM's birthday: CM Gupta

Delhi government will launch 500 creches for children of women working as labourers in the city during the 'Sewa Pakhwada' (service fortnight) to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday on Wednesday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said. Participating in a Vishwakarma Puja hosted by the labour department at the VR Metroplitan construction site in Civil Lines on Tuesday, Gupta praised the contributions of workers in the growth of the country, saying development of any state is not possible without the hard work put in by the labourers. After coming to power in Delhi six months ago, the BJP government launched various welfare measures like the Ayushman Bharat health scheme and Arogya Mandir clinics that will benefit the poor, she said. "We are going to launch 500 creches named 'Palna' on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, where children of women workers will be taken care of while they are at work," Gupta said.

The creches will provide proper nutrition and care to the children while ensuring that the livelihoods of their mothers remain secure, she said. The chief minister claimed that in the last 27 years, be it under the Congress or the AAP, no substantial welfare schemes for labourers or the poor were implemented in the capital. However, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the BJP government in Delhi has ensured uniform implementation of a minimum wage system throughout the city, whether a worker is employed in a government or a private institution, she said in a statement. Now, no worker will be subjected to low wages, she added.

The chief minister said that providing a roof over every poor person's head is a top priority of the government, which is also committed to ensuring quality healthcare and education for the people. Delhi Labour Minister Kapil Mishra said the dreams of "Viksit Bharat" and "Viksit Delhi" can be achieved only through the hard work of the labourers. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, the Delhi government is running several welfare schemes for the workers, whose benefits are reaching their families, he claimed.
