A massive fire broke out at a Kia car showroom in south Delhi's Saidulajab area on Friday afternoon, leaving seven people injured and damaging several vehicles, officials said. Around 12 to 15 people were rescued as firefighters and police launched an extensive emergency operation.

The blaze erupted at the showroom on MG Road, opposite Saket Metro station, around 3.45 pm. Thick clouds of black smoke rose from the premises as flames engulfed cars parked inside the building, triggering panic in the surrounding area.

South Delhi District Magistrate Lakshay Singhal said the administration was informed about the fire around 3.45 pm, following which emergency services were immediately mobilised.

Seven people sustained injuries in the incident. Four were admitted to Max Hospital, while three were taken to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital for treatment.

Rescue teams used ladders placed against adjoining buildings to evacuate people stranded on the upper floors. Local residents also assisted in bringing people to safety.

Officials said around 12 to 15 people were rescued during the operation. No deaths had been reported, although a search of the premises continued to ensure nobody remained trapped inside.

The fire spread through the showroom, engulfing several vehicles and sending dense smoke into the surrounding area. Visuals showed flames rising from the premises as firefighting teams worked to contain the blaze.

The incident attracted a large crowd of onlookers, many of whom stopped along the road to record videos on their mobile phones.

The gathering caused traffic congestion near the showroom, prompting police personnel to disperse the crowd and clear the route for fire tenders and ambulances.

Officials said the fire was eventually brought under control, although firefighters and police personnel remained at the scene to inspect the affected premises.

Teams from the Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, revenue department, Delhi Disaster Management Authority, ambulance services and Centralised Accident and Trauma Services participated in the emergency response.

Authorities continued searching the building to rule out the possibility of anyone remaining trapped inside.

Officials said the exact cause of the fire had not yet been established. A suspected electrical short circuit was among the possibilities being examined, but no definitive conclusion had been reached.

The extent of the financial damage was also being assessed, with several vehicles and parts of the showroom affected by the blaze.

The incident raised concerns over fire safety at commercial establishments housing multiple vehicles, while authorities continued their assessment of the building and the circumstances surrounding the fire.
