Fire guts lubricant warehouse in Assam's Nagaon, property worth Rs 12 lakh destroyed
A major fire broke out at a lubricant warehouse in Assam's Nagaon district on Friday, destroying property estimated to be worth Rs 12 lakh, police said. No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.
The blaze erupted at a warehouse in Islampatty, a busy commercial hub of Nagaon town located close to a densely populated residential neighbourhood, triggering concern over the possibility of flames spreading to adjoining buildings.
According to police, the warehouse was completely engulfed in flames before several fire tenders reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to nearby commercial establishments and residential areas.
A police officer said the fire caused extensive damage to the warehouse and its contents, with preliminary estimates placing the loss at approximately Rs 12 lakh.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established, although police suspect that an electrical short-circuit may have triggered the blaze.
Officials said the circumstances leading to the incident were being examined to determine its origin. The presence of lubricant materials inside the warehouse added to concerns about the intensity of the fire.
Despite the scale of the blaze and the warehouse's proximity to a densely populated locality, authorities confirmed that no casualties had been reported.
Newly elected Nagaon MP Devasish Sharma of the BJP rushed to the site after learning about the incident and took stock of the situation.
