Andhra Pradesh sacks 43 government doctors for long unauthorised absence

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav on Wednesday said 43 government doctors were dismissed from service for unauthorised absence from duty. Taking stringent action against erring civil assistant surgeons, the state dismissed them following due process, he said. "The health department is resorting to taking stringent action against 43 doctors for unauthorised absence from government health services," a press release quoted Yadav as saying. Adhering to rules and regulations, the minister said the government had decided to dismiss these doctors for remaining absent from duty for periods ranging up to four years. Under the purview of the director of medical education, 51 doctors working in teaching hospitals were removed in May for skipping work, the release added.
