Odegaard strikes late as Arsenal edge Chelsea 2-1 to claim London derby bragging rights

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard scored the winner as the Gunners defeated Chelsea 2-1 in a fiercely contested Premier League London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Chelsea pushed forward in search of another equaliser during the closing stages, forcing Arsenal to defend under sustained pressure. The Gunners, however, held firm to protect their narrow advantage and see out the 2-1 victory.

Arsenal hold their nerve

The result handed Arsenal another significant victory over their London rivals and maintained their momentum in the early stages of the Premier League campaign. For Chelsea, the defeat came despite periods in which they matched the hosts and threatened to take something from the contest. Arsenal will next travel to face Sunderland on September 12, while Chelsea return home to take on Hull City on the same day.
