Cristiano Ronaldo marries Georgina Rodriguez in private Portugal ceremony

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, model and influencer Georgina Rodriguez, in a private civil ceremony in Portugal.

Ronaldo, 41, shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday by posting a picture of the couple’s hands, showing their wedding rings. Portuguese media reported that the ceremony took place on August 11 in Cascais, a coastal town near Lisbon.

The wedding comes a decade after Ronaldo and Rodriguez first met in Madrid, where the footballer was playing for Spanish giants Real Madrid. Rodriguez was working at a Gucci outlet in the city at the time.

From Madrid meeting to marriage

The couple’s relationship began during Ronaldo’s Real Madrid stint and has continued for around 10 years. Ronaldo previously spoke about their relationship in Rodriguez’s Netflix series I Am Georgina, admitting that he initially did not expect their relationship to become so serious.

“I didn’t think at the beginning that this would be this strong, that I would fall in love with her,” he said.

“I didn’t expect it, honestly. But after a while, I felt that she was the woman of my life,” the five-time Ballon d’Or winner added.

Their engagement was announced exactly a year before the wedding, on August 11, 2025. Rodriguez shared a picture of her engagement ring on social media at the time, writing, “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives” in Spanish.

Ronaldo and Georgina’s family

Ronaldo and Rodriguez are parents to daughters Alana and Bella. Together, they also raise Ronaldo’s older children, Cristiano Jr., Eva Maria and Mateo.

The family has also endured a deeply painful loss. In 2022, during Ronaldo’s second stint at Manchester United, the couple announced the death of their son Angel, Bella’s twin brother, shortly after birth.

Portuguese media have described the private ceremony as the ‘wedding of the year’.

Ronaldo’s football career continues

Ronaldo currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr and remains one of football’s biggest names. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is also closing in on 1,000 professional goals.

He recently featured in his record-equalling sixth World Cup appearance in the United States. Portugal were eliminated by eventual champions Spain in the Round of 16.
