Woman's body found in train to Agra: Chennai house search reveals more remains, suspects flee

Three special police teams have been sent to Odisha to trace two suspects after decomposed human remains were found inside a red trolley bag on the Tamil Nadu Express at Agra Cantonment Railway Sstation earlier this month, police said.

The investigation, which began after the discovery of the body parts on August 5, has now led police from Agra to Chennai and then to Odisha.

Body parts found in train luggage

The Agra Railway Police registered a case after the decomposed remains were recovered from the general compartment of the Tamil Nadu Express at Agra Cantonment Station.

Police subsequently sought assistance from the Government Railway Police in Chennai to identify the deceased and establish how the body reached the train.

Initial investigations indicated that the remains belonged to 38-year-old Hidayath Nisha, a woman from Odisha who was working in Chennai, people aware of the matter said on Sunday.

Nisha was reportedly living with the suspects in Guduvancherry, on the outskirts of Chennai.

Police trace suspects through CCTV

A missing-person case was also registered by Guduvancherry Police after a complaint from Nisha's son.

During the investigation, personnel from Government Railway Police Chennai Central and Agra Police examined surveillance footage from Chennai Central railway station.

The footage showed a man and a woman carrying a red trolley bag similar to the one in which the remains were later discovered. They were seen boarding the Tamil Nadu Express on August 3.

Further investigation established that the two people seen in the footage were living in Guduvancherry.

Police then searched their house and made another significant discovery. Additional body parts believed to be those of Nisha were found inside a large container at the residence, according to police.

Suspects traced to Odisha

The man and woman are now absconding, prompting police to form three special teams to locate and arrest them.

The teams include officials from Guduvancherry Police and are using signals generated from the suspects' smartphones to track their movements, railway police sources said.

Based on these signals, the teams have travelled to Odisha in an attempt to locate the two suspects.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Nisha's death, the disposal of her remains and the sequence of events that led to the body being found aboard the Tamil Nadu Express.
