Rajya Sabha MPs elected to various statutory bodies, parliamentary panels

10 Rajya Sabha members have been elected to various statutory bodies, including governing bodies of AIIMS institutes across the country, after the number of candidates matched the available vacancies.

Gulam Ali has been elected as a member of AIIMS, Awantipora; Ashok Kumar Mittal to AIIMS, Bathinda; and Rajneesh Kumar Agrawal to AIIMS, Bhopal.

AGP MP Birendra Prasad Baishya has been elected to AIIMS, Guwahati, while BJP MP Sat Paul Sharma has been elected to AIIMS, Vijaypur.

IS Inbadurai will serve as a member of AIIMS, Madurai, and Madan Rathore as a member of AIIMS, Jodhpur.

MPs elected to other statutory bodies

Lahar Singh Siroya has been elected as a member of the Central Silk Board.

BJP MP Sikander Kumar from Himachal Pradesh has been elected as a member of the Council of the National Institutes of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management.

BJP MP Rekha Sharma from Haryana has been elected as a member of the National Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Board.

According to a notification issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, the members were elected because the number of candidates nominated for the statutory bodies was equal to the number of vacancies.

Members elected to key parliamentary committees

The Rajya Sabha Secretariat also issued a separate notification announcing the election of members to parliamentary committees.

BJP MP Sukhendu Sekhar Ray and DMK MP Tiruchi Siva were declared elected to the Committee on Public Accounts, while Mohammed Nadimul Haque was elected to the Committee on Public Undertakings.

The elections were uncontested as the number of candidates was equal to the number of members to be elected.

10 MPs elected to OBC committee

10 Rajya Sabha members were also declared elected to the Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes for a one-year term beginning from the date of its first sitting.

Those elected to the committee are Masthan Rao Yadav Beedha, Subhasish Khuntia, Amar Pal Maurya, Mayankkumar Nayak, A A Rahim, K R N Rajeshkumar, Kalpana Saini, Paka Venkata Satyanarayana, Ashok Singh and Bhim Singh.
