Polish PM Donald Tusk arrives in India for three-day visit, talks with Modi tomorrow
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday on a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, with talks scheduled with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to review the India-Poland Strategic Partnership and expand cooperation across key sectors.
Tusk, who is visiting India at Modi's invitation, was received at the airport by Minister of State Raj Bhushan Choudhary.
This is his second visit to India as Poland's Prime Minister, following his earlier visit in 2010 during a previous tenure.
"A warm welcome to Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland on his arrival in New Delhi. He was received at the airport by Minister of State Dr Raj Bhushan Choudhary. The visit will provide fresh impetus to the India-Poland Strategic Partnership and further deepen our longstanding ties," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X.

According to the MEA, Modi and Tusk will hold bilateral discussions at Hyderabad House on Thursday, during which they will review the entire spectrum of relations between the two countries.
The relationship was elevated to a Strategic Partnership during Modi's visit to Poland in August 2024, marking an important development in bilateral engagement.
The two leaders are expected to assess progress under the partnership and identify opportunities for expanding cooperation in trade and investment, defence, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education and cultural exchanges.
They will also exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
Following their discussions, Modi and Tusk are scheduled to issue press statements outlining the outcomes of the meeting.

As per the official programme released by the MEA on Wednesday, Tusk will begin Thursday's engagements with a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
He will subsequently visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and lay a wreath at the memorial.
The Polish Prime Minister will then proceed to Hyderabad House for his meeting with Modi.
The MEA had earlier said the visit would provide fresh momentum to the India-Poland Strategic Partnership while also contributing to broader India-European Union relations.
The two countries have sought to expand cooperation in areas ranging from economic engagement and defence to technology and people-to-people exchanges.

Tusk is accompanied by Poland's Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domanski and a large business delegation, reflecting the economic dimension of the visit.
The presence of business representatives is expected to provide opportunities for discussions on investment and commercial cooperation between the two countries.
"The visit will provide an opportunity to further strengthen the India-Poland Strategic Partnership and advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, defence, emerging technologies, renewable energy, education, culture and people-to-people ties," the MEA had said in an earlier statement.

Following his engagements in New Delhi, Tusk is scheduled to travel to Bengaluru on Thursday evening.
During his visit to Karnataka, he will hold meetings with the Governor and Chief Minister, according to the official itinerary.
The Bengaluru leg forms part of his broader programme to strengthen engagement with India beyond the national capital.
Tusk had previously visited New Delhi in 2017 to attend the India-EU Summit in his capacity as president of the European Council.
His current visit comes more than two years after India and Poland elevated their bilateral relationship to a Strategic Partnership, with both sides seeking to build on that diplomatic milestone through expanded political and economic engagement.
