Doval's visit comes months after India and Vietnam elevated their bilateral relationship to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Vietnamese President To Lam's visit to India in May.
The two countries also set a target of increasing annual bilateral trade to $25 billion by 2030, signalling their intention to expand economic engagement alongside strategic cooperation.
The upgraded partnership provides a broader framework for strengthening ties across defence, security, trade and other areas of mutual interest.
Security cooperation remains a central pillar of the relationship, supported by regular high-level exchanges and engagement between officials of the two countries.
The latest meetings in Hanoi reflect efforts by both governments to maintain momentum in their expanded partnership and deepen coordination on matters of shared strategic concern.
