Jag Mohan appointed Special Director, IB; five IPS officers elevated to Special DG rank

Senior IPS officer Jag Mohan was on Thursday appointed Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), as the Centre cleared senior-level appointments involving six 1995-batch officers across the country's intelligence and central armed police organisations. Mohan, a 1995-batch Bihar cadre Indian Police Service officer, is currently serving as Additional Director in the Intelligence Bureau. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment as Special Director, IB, from the date he assumes charge until his superannuation on June 30, 2031, or until further orders.

Mohan had earlier been empanelled by the Centre for holding Additional Director General or equivalent-level posts. His elevation places him among the senior-most officers in the Intelligence Bureau.

Two elevated in CRPF

The ACC also approved the appointment of Haryana cadre IPS officer Sandeep Khirwar as Special Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Khirwar, who is currently serving as Additional Director General in the force, will hold the Special DG position until his superannuation on May 31, 2033, or until further orders. AGMUT cadre officer Rajesh Kumar, also from the 1995 batch and currently an ADG in the CRPF, has been appointed Special DG in the force on an in-situ basis by temporarily upgrading the post held by him. His appointment has been cleared for two years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders.

BSF, CISF appointments

Two senior officers have been elevated to the Special DG level in the Border Security Force (BSF).

Puneet Rastogi, a 1995-batch Tripura cadre IPS officer currently serving as ADG in the BSF, has been appointed Special DG from the date he assumes charge until his superannuation on June 30, 2030, or until further orders.

Satish Shriramaji Khandare, a 1995-batch AGMUT cadre officer and presently ADG in the BSF, has also been appointed Special DG. His elevation involves restoration of a temporarily downgraded Special DG post and will continue until his superannuation on June 30, 2031, or until further orders.

In the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Odisha cadre officer Padmakar S Ranipse has been appointed Special DG. Ranipse, currently serving as ADG in the CISF, has been elevated on an in-situ basis through temporary upgradation of his post.

His appointment will remain effective until his superannuation on May 31, 2028, or until further orders.

All six officers belong to the 1995 IPS batch and had earlier reached the Additional Director General or equivalent level at the Centre.
