IndiGo extends cancellation of Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku, Tashkent flights till Mar 28

IndiGo on Monday extended the cancellation of flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku and Tashkent till March 28 due to developments related to Iran. Earlier, the carrier had cancelled the services to these cities till February 28. IndiGo and Air India have stopped using the Iranian airspace and are flying alternative routes for their long-haul flights. Considering the ongoing developments in the region around Iran and its associated airspace, flights to/from Tbilisi (Georgia), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan) and Baku (Azerbaijan) remain impacted, IndiGo said in a post on X. "The previously announced cancellations have been extended until 28th March 2026. The safety and well-being of our customers and crew remain our highest priority, and we continue to closely monitor the situation, while reviewing schedules to minimise inconvenience," the airline said. Tensions have escalated between Iran and the United States, and there are apprehensions that the situation could result in a military conflict. On February 4, IndiGo said it will adjust its long-haul flights operated with leased Dreamliners, wherein services to Copenhagen will be suspended from February 17, while flights on Delhi-London-Heathrow and Delhi-Manchester routes would also be reduced. In a statement, the airline had said its wide-body operation has faced external operational constraints such as continuously changing airspace constraints due to geopolitical circumstances, congestion at airports in India and abroad. "These factors significantly increased flight and block times, causing strain over the airline's 787-9 schedule that is operated with six wide-body aircraft," it had said.
