'Gyanesh Kumar would've never let this happen to Trump': Abhijeet Dipke's dig at US midterm results
The US midterm election results have triggered reactions beyond American politics, with Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke taking a sarcastic dig at the outcome by bringing India's ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) controversy into the conversation.
As Democrats registered major victories against US President Donald Trump's Republicans, Dipke took to X on Wednesday and wrote, “Gyanesh Kumar would’ve never let this happen to Trump."
The remark was a reference to Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and the political row surrounding the Election Commission's SIR exercise in India.
Why did Abhijeet Dipke mention Gyanesh Kumar?
Dipke's post appeared to draw a comparison between the US election outcome and the opposition's allegations concerning electoral processes in India.
The CJP and the INDIA bloc have been demanding the withdrawal of the SIR exercise and the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
The SIR exercise has remained a major political flashpoint, with opposition parties questioning the Election Commission's handling of the revision process.
Democrats deal major blow to Trump's Republicans
The US midterm elections have dealt a significant setback to Trump, with Democrats taking control of both chambers of Congress.
The results are being viewed as a referendum on Trump's second presidential term, with voters weighing issues such as the economy, rising living costs, immigration and the ongoing war with Iran.
Speaking to Politico, Trump said he was willing to work with Democrats and would do “anything good for the country".
Iran also reacts to Trump's electoral setback
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed-Bagher Ghalibaf also reacted to the Republican losses, linking the election outcome to American public sentiment over the war with Iran.
“Conscience or the cost of living, Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message."
He further warned Washington against ignoring public opinion, writing, “If the US govt betrays their public will to serve international paymasters and blackmailers, it will learn our NO comes with a Nightmare", he wrote on X.
