Full emergency declared on Alliance Air Prayagraj-Delhi flight after engine failure

A full emergency was declared on an Alliance Air flight travelling from Prayagraj to Delhi on Friday after one of its engines became inoperative, airport officials said. The aircraft later landed at Delhi airport.

Flight 9I 698, operated by Alliance Air, was flying an ATR 72 aircraft and had around 40 passengers on board.

“The flight declared a full emergency due to one engine being inoperative. All necessary emergency response measures were activated,” an airport official said.

According to information available on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, the aircraft landed at Delhi airport at around 2.15 pm.

Alliance Air flight had faced tyre burst in August

The latest incident comes days after another Alliance Air flight faced a technical problem during landing at Bilasa Devi Kevat Airport in Bilaspur on August 28.

The Delhi-Bilaspur flight suffered a tyre burst while landing. All 37 passengers and four crew members on board were safely evacuated.

Bilasa Devi Kevat Airport Director B Singh said the aircraft's left tyre burst during landing, after which it suffered a glitch on the runway.

“During landing, the left tyre burst. So, it suffered a glitch on the runway itself. There were 37 passengers and 4 crew members on board. None of them suffered any injuries. Later, they were deboarded on the runway and safely brought to the terminal building. All passengers belonged to Bilaspur,” the Airport Director was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Air India flight makes emergency landing in Ahmedabad

Meanwhile, an Air India flight from Dammam to Delhi made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad Airport on Monday after a crew member found a tissue paper bearing the word "bomb" inside the aircraft's lavatory, PTI reported.

All 32 passengers were safely deboarded at Terminal 2, while security personnel carried out a thorough check of the aircraft, Ahmedabad Police said.

The aircraft was being checked by security agencies as a precautionary measure, police said.
