'Don't worry, I'm with you': PM Modi backs Trinamool rebels, former Uddhav Sena MPs at NDA meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met newly-elected NDA Lok Sabha MPs over breakfast and encouraged them to play an active role in parliamentary proceedings, while expressing concern over repeated disruptions in both Houses.

According to sources cited by NDTV, the Prime Minister described Parliament as the "supreme temple of democracy" and said frequent disruptions were preventing first-time MPs from participating in debates.

"This is unfair to them," he reportedly said, adding that the Parliamentary proceedings "must run smoothly".

The Prime Minister also advised MPs to study the history of Parliament and use its resources to prepare for debates.

"There is a wealth of historical material in Parliament; use it to prepare debates. Work for the development of your respective states. The country will progress only when states progress," he said.

PM reassures Trinamool rebels, former Uddhav Sena MPs

Around 45 MPs attended the meeting, including members from the Shiv Sena, the National Citizens Party of India (NCPI) and the NCP led by Ajit Pawar.

During the interaction, PM Modi also addressed Trinamool rebels and six former Shiv Sena (Uddhav camp) MPs who recently joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena.

Reassuring them of the NDA's support, he said, "The NDA is a family. We are with the constituent parties. Every individual will be respected and given a chance. I am with every MP, not just one constituent party of the NDA. I stand with every MP of the NDA. You don't need to worry about anyone."

Focus on development and public outreach

The Prime Minister also urged MPs to remain connected with people in their constituencies and make full use of available government support for development projects.

"Contact the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) directly for any development work in your area...Meet everyone, including poor labourers and farmers, and understand everyone's problems," he said.

After the meeting, PM Modi reportedly interacted with the MPs individually and enquired about their well-being.

Outreach continues during Monsoon Session

The breakfast interaction came a day after the Prime Minister hosted BJP MPs at his official residence as part of his outreach programme during the Monsoon Session.

During that meeting, he reportedly shared personal experiences and advised MPs not to get caught in "Delhi's web of narratives" while maintaining cordial relations with Opposition members.

The latest interaction forms part of the Prime Minister's continued engagement with NDA lawmakers amid the ongoing Parliament session.
