"Don't Jump To Conclusions, Wait For Final Report": Aviation Minister On Air India Crash

Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu urged against speculation on the Air India crash, asking the public to await the final report, following AAIB’s preliminary findings on fuel cutoff switches.

Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu urged the public not to jump to conclusions over the Air India crash and instead wait for the final investigation report. His remarks come after the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) released a preliminary report indicating that both fuel control switches were moved to the cutoff position shortly after takeoff, leading to the fatal crash.

Speaking to reporters, Naidu said, “The preliminary report is out, but a detailed investigation is still ongoing. Let’s not speculate or assign blame until the final report is submitted.”

He also added that the government is fully committed to ensuring passenger safety and is cooperating with all investigative agencies, including international bodies like the US National Transportation Safety Board and the UK’s Air Accident Investigation Branch, which are assisting in the probe.

The crash, involving an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner on June 12, killed 260 people, including 19 on the ground, when the aircraft lost thrust and plummeted shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad.
