CJI Chandrachud pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary
Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud, led a solemn tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary at Rajghat on Wednesday. Accompanied by fellow judges of the Supreme Court, CJI Chandrachud paid his respects at Gandhi's memorial, reflecting on the enduring legacy of the Father of the Nation.
Following the Rajghat ceremony, the CJI and the group of judges visited the statue of Mahatma Gandhi installed within the Supreme Court premises, offering further homage. The occasion was marked with quiet reverence as they remembered the values of peace and non-violence that Gandhi championed.
In addition to honoring Mahatma Gandhi, the Chief Justice and his colleagues also paid tribute to India's second prime minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversary coincides with that of Gandhi. Shastri is remembered for his simplicity, integrity, and his iconic slogan, "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan," which continues to inspire generations of Indians. The day’s events at Rajghat and the Supreme Court underscored the continuing respect and admiration for two of India's most revered leaders.
