BJP chief Nitin Nabin chairs meeting on youth outreach, assembly poll preparations

BJP president Nitin Nabin on Saturday held a crucial meeting with party leaders to discuss and formulate its youth outreach plan, sources said.

According to sources, the party's preparations for the upcoming assembly polls in seven states, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat, were also on the agenda.

The meeting was attended by newly appointed BJP Yuva Morcha president Hemang Joshi. Former presidents of the party's Yuva Morcha Anurag Thakur, Poonam Mahajan and Tejasvi Surya were also present.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia participated in the meeting.

Former Union minister and newly appointed BJP national general secretary Smriti Irani, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were among the leaders present.

The BJP invited more than 40 party leaders from across the country to participate in the closed-door discussions, according to sources.

There was no official word from the party on what transpired in the meeting.

Assembly polls also discussed

The meeting comes as the BJP prepares for assembly elections in seven states, with Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat among those expected to be a focus of the party's planning.

The discussions also take place ahead of a month-long 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', which the BJP plans to launch nationwide from September 17.

'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' to focus on youth, women, farmers

The campaign will mark the completion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 25 years in public life as the head of a government.

The decision to hold the campaign was taken at the BJP's first meeting with all 67 newly-appointed national office bearers on August 22. The meeting was attended by presidents and organising general secretaries of BJP state units, along with other senior leaders.

During the nationwide campaign, BJP workers will reach out to different sections of society, including youth, women and farmers, through various programmes.

Innovation challenge, social service campaign planned

As part of its youth outreach, the BJP will organise a National Innovation Challenge. It will also launch the 'Seva Mein Mera Yogdaan' campaign, encouraging people, particularly young people, to participate in activities such as cleanliness drives and tree plantation and create reels to inspire others.

The party will also organise the 'Anganwadi Saman and Matru Samman' programme to honour 14 lakh Anganwadi workers across the country.

Camps to help people access welfare schemes

Under the 'Seva Setu Abhiyan', 15-day camps will be organised at the block level across the country.

The camps will assist people in enrolling in government welfare schemes, including Ayushman Bharat and Kisan Samman Yojna.
