Planning a Dubai or Singapore trip? You can now use UPI at these top attractions
Indian travellers can now use the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to book select attractions at Dubai's Burj Khalifa and Singapore's Resorts World Sentosa, making it easier to pay for experiences at two popular international destinations using familiar payment apps.
The Ministry of Finance announced the development on October 30, stating that visitors can make online bookings and payments through their preferred UPI applications. The facility follows partnerships announced by NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) with payment service providers in the UAE and Singapore.
UPI at Burj Khalifa and Singapore attractions
In the UAE, NIPL has partnered with NEOPAY and Emaar Entertainment to enable UPI payments for tickets to At The Top, Burj Khalifa. The attraction features observation decks on the building's 124th and 125th floors, located 452 metres above the ground. It opened to visitors in 2010.
In Singapore, the partnership with FOMO Pay will extend UPI acceptance to Resorts World Sentosa, an integrated resort on Sentosa island. The attractions covered include Universal Studios Singapore, the Singapore Oceanarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark.
More than 1.2 million Indians visited Singapore in 2025, making the payment facility a significant addition for Indian tourists visiting the country.
The Ministry of Finance said, “It strengthens the digital and economic bridge between India and both the UAE and Singapore, empowering Indian travellers with seamless, secure and familiar financial tools.”
In how many countries is UPI accepted?
The latest expansion follows the introduction of UPI payments for booking Eiffel Tower tickets in Paris on January 26, 2024.
UPI is currently accepted for online payments in 10 countries: Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Bhutan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Greece.
Uzbekistan could become the next addition after a commercial agreement was announced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the country on August 30.
The ministry said it “remains committed to fostering international partnerships that champion digital innovation, streamline cross-border commerce and project India’s technological prowess onto the global stage.”
