Updated Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 launched at Rs 3.58 lakh

Royal Enfield has launched the updated Continental GT 650 in India, introducing a handful of cosmetic and equipment upgrades to its popular cafe racer. Prices now start at Rs 3.58 lakh and extend to Rs 3.88 lakh, ex-showroom, depending on the colour and specification selected. The update does not bring any changes to the motorcycle's engine or core mechanical package. Instead, Royal Enfield has concentrated on refreshing its appearance and adding a few convenience features while retaining the retro cafe-racer character that has defined the Continental GT 650.

New features

Among the most visible changes is a black-painted instrument cowl surrounding the familiar instrument cluster. The motorcycle also gets new LED indicators, replacing the previous units and bringing a more contemporary touch to its otherwise retro-inspired design. Royal Enfield has additionally equipped the updated Continental GT 650 with a USB Type-C fast-charging port, improving convenience for riders who need to charge smartphones or other devices while on the move. The Rocker Red version receives a more substantial visual makeover. It now features a blacked-out engine and exhaust along with cast-alloy wheels, a treatment that was previously offered on the Apex Grey version. This gives the red motorcycle a sportier, darker appearance.

Four colour options

The updated Continental GT 650 is available in four colours — Rocker Red, British Racing Green, Apex Grey and Mr Clean. Rocker Red and British Racing Green are priced at Rs 3,58,427 each, while the Apex Grey version costs Rs 3,80,921. The range-topping Mr Clean version, distinguished by its chrome-finished fuel tank, is priced at Rs 3,87,667. All prices are ex-showroom. The specifications also differ depending on the colour selected. Rocker Red and Apex Grey come with cast-alloy wheels, black engines and black exhaust systems. British Racing Green and Mr Clean retain traditional spoked wheels and polished engine finishes, preserving a more classic appearance.

Same twin-cylinder engine

Mechanically, the Continental GT 650 continues unchanged. Power comes from Royal Enfield's familiar 648cc air- and oil-cooled parallel-twin engine, which develops 47hp and 52.3Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle continues to use its steel tubular double-cradle frame, telescopic front suspension and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. Its cafe-racer riding position, characterised by clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs, has also been retained. Braking duties continue to be handled by disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.

Retro formula retained

Despite the latest additions, Royal Enfield has avoided making extensive changes to the Continental GT 650. The motorcycle continues with its familiar sculpted fuel tank, round headlamp and minimalist rear section, combining styling cues associated with traditional British cafe racers with modern mechanicals. The latest update therefore focuses on keeping the Continental GT 650 fresh without significantly altering the formula. The addition of LED indicators and Type-C charging improves everyday usability, while the revised Rocker Red treatment expands the choice for buyers looking for a more contemporary, blacked-out appearance.
