Toyota launches 2026 Glanza facelift at Rs 6.99 lakh with new engine, advanced safety features

Updated premium hatchback gets Level-2 ADAS, ventilated front seats and improved fuel efficiency, with prices extending to Rs 10.98 lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Wednesday launched the 2026 facelift of its premium hatchback Glanza in India, with prices starting at Rs 6.99 lakh and going up to Rs 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated model introduces a more fuel-efficient three-cylinder petrol engine, revised exterior styling, additional comfort features and a Level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

The facelifted Glanza is available in five trims โ€” E, S, G, V and V(O) โ€” with petrol and CNG powertrain options. Bookings have commenced for a token amount of Rs 11,000, while customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first week of November.

The launch strengthens Toyota's presence in India's premium hatchback segment, where the Glanza competes with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz. The latest update focuses on improving fuel economy, enhancing safety and offering greater convenience without significantly altering the car's overall proportions.

One of the biggest changes is the introduction of a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Z12E petrol engine, replacing the previous four-cylinder unit. The engine produces 83 horsepower and 112 Nm of torque in petrol mode and is paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automated manual transmission (AMT).

Although the new engine produces slightly less power than its predecessor, Toyota claims a noticeable improvement in fuel efficiency. The petrol manual version now delivers 23.80 km per litre, compared with 22.35 km per litre previously, while the AMT variant returns 24.77 km per litre against the earlier 22.94 km per litre.

The engine also features an idle start-stop system designed to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption during traffic stops.

In CNG mode, the engine generates 70 horsepower and 102 Nm of torque. The company has introduced an AMT option for CNG buyers, expanding convenience for customers seeking lower running costs without a conventional manual gearbox.

The CNG manual variant offers claimed fuel efficiency of 33.61 km per kg, while the new CNG AMT returns 34.47 km per kg. The improvement is expected to strengthen the model's appeal among cost-conscious urban commuters.

The 2026 Glanza receives a redesigned front fascia featuring a larger grille, satin-finished trim elements and revised LED fog lamps. Toyota has repositioned its emblem beneath the bonnet and integrated a radar module into the front section to support the new driver assistance features.

The hatchback also receives a shark-fin antenna and two new exterior colour options โ€” Digital Teal Green and Bluish Black.

However, the overall silhouette remains largely unchanged. The facelift retains the existing 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome-finished door handles and window surrounds, along with the familiar wraparound LED tail-lamps, roof-mounted spoiler and rear wiper.

The vehicle measures 3,990 mm in length, 1,745 mm in width and 1,530 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm.

Inside, Toyota has retained the Glanza's existing dashboard layout while introducing new leatherette seat upholstery and several convenience features.

Among the additions are ventilated front seats, a wireless smartphone charger with a cooling vent, a tyre pressure monitoring system and an upgraded Clarion sound system featuring four speakers and two tweeters.

The hatchback continues to offer a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, automatic climate control with rear air-conditioning vents and a digital multi-information display integrated into the instrument cluster.

The feature upgrades are aimed at making the Glanza more competitive in a segment where buyers increasingly expect equipment previously associated with larger and more expensive vehicles.

The introduction of Level-2 ADAS represents a significant safety upgrade for the Glanza. The system provides driver assistance functions designed to improve awareness and help reduce collision risks in certain driving situations.

The updated hatchback also retains six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, hill-hold control and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points. The additional driver assistance technology is offered on the higher-specification variants, with the top-end V(O) trim receiving the most comprehensive equipment package.

The changes reflect the growing importance of active and passive safety technologies in India's passenger vehicle market, particularly as manufacturers compete to introduce more advanced features in relatively affordable models.

The entry-level E petrol manual variant is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh, while the S petrol manual costs Rs 7.71 lakh. The G and V petrol manual versions are priced at Rs 8.73 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh, respectively, with the V(O) petrol manual available at Rs 10.49 lakh.

The petrol AMT range starts at Rs 8.31 lakh for the S variant and extends to Rs 10.98 lakh for the V(O). CNG manual variants are priced from Rs 8.76 lakh, while the CNG AMT versions start at Rs 9.31 lakh.

Compared with the outgoing Glanza, prices of petrol manual and AMT versions have increased by up to Rs 1 lakh, while CNG manual variants have become costlier by up to Rs 27,000.

With the facelift, Toyota is seeking to strengthen the Glanza's appeal through improved fuel efficiency, enhanced safety and expanded transmission choices, particularly for buyers who want the convenience of an automatic gearbox alongside the lower running costs of CNG.
