Tata Curvv Series X launched at Rs 10 lakh, gets more features across variants

Tata Motors has launched the Curvv Series X in India, with ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 19 lakh, introducing a revised variant structure that makes several features previously restricted to higher trims available further down the line-up. The Series X range starts with the Smart X petrol manual at Rs 10 lakh, followed by the Pure X at Rs 11 lakh and Pure X+ at Rs 11.80 lakh. Prices extend to Rs 19 lakh for the range-topping Accomplished X+ Dark diesel automatic. The new Smart X costs Rs 24,000 more than the outgoing base variant. Tata has, however, narrowed the price difference between comparable petrol and diesel versions to Rs 1.3 lakh from Rs 1.5 lakh. The premium for an automatic transmission has similarly been reduced to Rs 1.3 lakh.

A key change in the Series X is the redistribution of equipment across variants. The 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen is now offered from the Pure X, the second trim in the line-up.

Depending on the variant, equipment includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, push-button start and auto-folding outside rear-view mirrors. Higher variants add a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, multiple drive modes, USB ports and a cooled glove box.

Tata has also revised the cabin to improve rear-seat comfort. The front seat-back has been made 10mm slimmer, while the rear seat has been shifted 20mm backwards and lowered by 10mm. Rear passengers also get dedicated AC vents, reclining seats and a centre armrest.

The equipment list further includes a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera with blind-view monitoring, rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps. Safety features include six airbags, electronic stability programme, hill-hold control, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors.

At the top end, the Curvv offers a 12.3-inch infotainment display, nine-speaker JBL audio system, ventilated front seats, a six-way powered driver's seat, wireless charging and dual-zone climate control. Level 2 ADAS, connected-car technology, an air purifier and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate are also available.

Three engines retained

The Series X continues with the Curvv's existing three-engine portfolio. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol develops 120hp and 170Nm, while the more powerful 1.2-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol produces 125hp and 225Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel develops 118hp and 260Nm.

The standard turbo-petrol and diesel engines are offered with six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions. The direct-injection turbo-petrol is reserved for the top-spec Accomplished X+ and comes with the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The SUV-coupe's basic exterior design remains unchanged, though the Series X replaces the earlier chrome grille treatment with a black finish. Tata has also expanded the Dark edition to more variants, while 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are offered on lower versions and 18-inch wheels on higher trims.
