Skoda to hike car prices by up to 1.2% from October 1

Skoda Auto India on Tuesday announced that it will increase prices across its passenger vehicle portfolio by up to 1.2 per cent from October 1, citing rising input and operational costs. The increase will vary depending on the model and variant, with the maximum price revision capped at Rs 20,000, the automaker said. The revision will apply at the ex-showroom level across the company’s India portfolio.

Costs drive revision

“This revision will see an increase of up to 1.2 per cent at ex-showroom level across the brand’s India portfolio. The price revision varies by model and variant with the maximum increase capped at Rs 20,000,” Skoda Auto India said in a statement. The company attributed the decision to rising input and operational costs. The actual increase for customers will therefore depend on the vehicle and variant selected rather than a uniform hike across the range.

Six models covered

Skoda’s current India portfolio comprises the Kylaq, Kushaq, Slavia, Kodiaq, Octavia RS and Superb. The Kylaq, the company’s sub-four-metre SUV, sits at the more accessible end of its portfolio, while the Kushaq and Slavia form key parts of its locally produced range. The Kodiaq represents Skoda in the premium SUV segment, while the Octavia RS and Superb extend its presence at the higher end of the passenger vehicle market.

October 1 revision

The revised ex-showroom prices will come into effect from October 1. Skoda has not announced a uniform model-wise increase, meaning individual variants may see different revisions within the 1.2 per cent ceiling. The company has also capped the absolute increase at Rs 20,000, limiting the impact on higher-priced models even where a 1.2 per cent revision would otherwise translate into a larger amount.
