Range Rover launches Rs 4.90 crore Sawai Collection, only 18 SUVs to be made

Three exclusive editions had been unveiled, drawing inspiration from the architectural heritage of Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer

British luxury carmaker Range Rover has launched its SV Sawai Collection in India at Rs 4.90 crore (ex-showroom), introducing three exclusive editions inspired by the royal and architectural heritage of Rajasthan. Limited to just 18 vehicles worldwide, the collection features six examples each of the Sawai Jaipur, Sawai Jodhpur and Sawai Jaisalmer editions.

Developed by the company's Range Rover Bespoke division, the collection represents its third India-specific special edition, following the Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition and the SV Masara Edition. Each vehicle features distinctive exterior colours, handcrafted interiors and design elements reflecting the cultural identity of the Rajasthan city it represents.

The name 'Sawai' comes from a historic royal title associated with exceptional ability, wisdom and distinction. According to the company, the collection seeks to incorporate these qualities through craftsmanship and exclusive personalisation.

The Sawai Jaipur Edition takes inspiration from the Pink City's distinctive architecture, particularly the Hawa Mahal. It features a rose-tinted exterior reminiscent of Jaipur's terracotta-pink buildings, complemented by an Ecru and Deep Garnet dual-tone interior.

The seats feature embroidery inspired by the traditional jharokha patterns of the Hawa Mahal, while the steering wheel combines Deep Garnet and Ebony leather. White ceramic controls, specially designed rear-seat cushions and personalised door-sill plates complete the cabin.

The Sawai Jodhpur Edition celebrates the Blue City's architectural heritage with a soft blue exterior and a Perlino and Riviera interior. Its seat embroidery incorporates patterns inspired by the intricate stone and wooden jali work found in Jodhpur's historic forts and palaces.

The cabin also features Perlino leather on the steering wheel, Ash Burr veneer accents, white ceramic controls and Liberty Blue carpeting. Dedicated rear-seat cushions carry embroidery exclusive to this edition.

The Sawai Jaisalmer Edition draws inspiration from the Golden City's sandstone architecture and desert landscape. It features a golden exterior finish paired with a Perlino and Caraway interior, reflecting the warm tones associated with Jaisalmer's historic buildings.

Its seat embroidery combines traditional block-printing motifs with design elements inspired by Jaisalmer Fort. The cabin also receives leather-trimmed carpets, embroidered cushions and personalised finishing details.

All three editions share several exclusive exterior and interior features, including 23-inch Champagne-finished alloy wheels, an Atlas Silver exterior styling package and 24-karat gold-plated surrounds for the Range Rover branding.

Each vehicle carries a personalised plaque identifying its edition and displaying the '1 of 6' designation, highlighting its limited production.

The Sawai Collection is based on the long-wheelbase Range Rover SV and features a four-seat configuration designed to prioritise rear-passenger comfort.

The individual rear seats offer reclining functions, heating, ventilation and massage features. Rear entertainment screens and fold-out tables are also provided, reinforcing the vehicle's positioning in the ultra-luxury SUV segment.

Despite their distinctive styling, all three editions share the same mechanical configuration. The SUVs are powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine producing 537 horsepower and 750 Nm of peak torque.

The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with power delivered through an all-wheel-drive system.

The long-wheelbase platform provides additional cabin space, while the SV specification combines performance with an emphasis on passenger comfort and luxury.

The Sawai Collection does not introduce a new powertrain. Instead, its exclusivity comes primarily from the limited production numbers, specialised craftsmanship and Rajasthan-inspired design treatments.

The launch follows Range Rover's earlier India-focused bespoke editions, including the SV Ranthambore Edition and the SV Masara Edition.

The new collection continues the company's approach of incorporating Indian cultural and architectural influences into limited-production luxury vehicles.

With only six examples of each Sawai edition being manufactured worldwide, the collection is aimed at buyers seeking highly personalised vehicles with distinctive design identities.

At Rs 4.90 crore (ex-showroom), the Range Rover SV Sawai Collection competes in the ultra-luxury SUV segment alongside models such as the Bentley Bentayga, Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Mercedes-Maybach GLS.

The launch also reflects India's growing importance to luxury automobile manufacturers, which are increasingly introducing exclusive models and personalised offerings for high-end customers.
