Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R gets Öhlins steering damper worth Rs 83,000 at no additional cost

The middleweight supersport continues at Rs 12.49 lakh as Kawasaki sweetens the deal with premium steering hardware aimed at improving high-speed stability

Kawasaki India has announced a special offer on the Ninja ZX-6R, providing buyers with an Öhlins steering damper worth Rs 83,000 at no additional cost with the middleweight supersport motorcycle.

The MY26 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R continues to be priced at Rs 12.49 lakh, ex-showroom, India, making the addition of the premium steering damper a substantial benefit for prospective buyers. Kawasaki has been offering the steering damper with the motorcycle for some time, and the latest announcement continues the incentive without any corresponding increase in the ZX-6R's listed price. The Öhlins unit is designed to improve front-end composure and stability, particularly during hard acceleration, aggressive riding and high-speed track use.

Öhlins hardware adds value

A steering damper works by controlling sudden or unwanted movements of a motorcycle's handlebar, reducing the likelihood of rapid steering oscillations when riding at high speeds or accelerating over uneven surfaces.

Such equipment is commonly associated with larger, more powerful superbikes and track-focused motorcycles. Its inclusion on the ZX-6R therefore adds to the performance-oriented character of Kawasaki's 600cc-class machine.

The Rs 83,000 value of the Öhlins unit also makes the offer significant relative to the motorcycle's Rs 12.49 lakh ex-showroom price.

The ZX-6R already features a chassis and suspension package developed with spirited road riding and track use in mind, and the additional steering hardware further strengthens that focus.

636cc inline-four remains unchanged

There are no mechanical changes to the motorcycle as part of the offer. The Ninja ZX-6R continues to use Kawasaki's 636cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine.

The motor develops 124hp at 13,000rpm and 69Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm. With the ram-air system in effect, maximum output increases to 129hp.

The high-revving four-cylinder configuration remains one of the motorcycle's key attractions at a time when traditional middleweight supersport machines have become increasingly uncommon.

Several manufacturers have moved towards twin- and three-cylinder engines in the middleweight category as they seek to balance performance with emissions compliance, road usability and production costs.

That leaves the ZX-6R among the relatively few inline-four supersport motorcycles still available to Indian buyers.

Track-focused character continues

The ZX-6R occupies a distinctive position between more road-oriented middleweight motorcycles and litre-class superbikes.

Its 636cc displacement gives it additional low- and mid-range performance compared with traditional 599cc supersport machines, while the compact dimensions and chassis remain focused on precise handling.

The motorcycle is equipped with modern electronic rider aids and performance hardware intended to make its considerable output more manageable both on public roads and at a racetrack.

The free Öhlins steering damper does not change the motorcycle's outright performance figures, but it can contribute to greater confidence when the front wheel becomes light under acceleration or encounters disturbances at speed.

Offer strengthens ZX-6R proposition

At Rs 12.49 lakh, the ZX-6R sits firmly in the premium motorcycle segment, where additional equipment can have a considerable influence on value.

A performance component carrying an individual price of Rs 83,000 would ordinarily represent a sizeable additional expense for an owner looking to upgrade the motorcycle after purchase.

By bundling the Öhlins unit with the ZX-6R, Kawasaki is effectively enhancing the motorcycle's equipment package without altering its ex-showroom price.

For enthusiasts seeking a traditional high-revving four-cylinder supersport, the offer makes one of India's few remaining machines of its type a more compelling proposition, particularly for riders planning regular track use.
