Jeep Compass 85th Anniversary Edition launched at Rs 26.70 lakh

Limited-run SUV gets anniversary-specific styling, black-and-gold cabin and optional feature packages; only 85 units will be sold in India

Jeep has launched the Compass 85th Anniversary Edition in India, marking 85 years of the American SUV brand. Priced from Rs 26.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the special edition will be restricted to just 85 units for the Indian market. Based on the higher-spec Model S (O) variant of the Compass, the anniversary edition retains the familiar mechanical package while introducing cosmetic changes inside and outside. Jeep is also offering dedicated accessory packages that bring additional equipment to the limited-run model.

Bookings for the Compass 85th Anniversary Edition have opened through authorised Jeep dealerships and the brand's online sales channel.

Anniversary styling

Visually, the Compass 85th Anniversary Edition remains largely identical to the standard SUV, but receives a number of details that distinguish it from the regular range. The SUV gets special ‘85’ anniversary decals on the doors and tailgate, along with anniversary-themed wheel hub caps. It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black, giving the limited edition a darker appearance.

Other familiar Compass design elements have been retained, including Jeep's signature seven-slot grille, LED headlights with LED daytime running lamps, LED fog lamps and LED tail-lights. The special edition is available in four exterior colours — Exotica Red, Brilliant Black, Pearl White and Techno Metallic Green.

Black-and-gold cabin

Jeep has made more noticeable changes inside the SUV. The Compass 85th Anniversary Edition features an all-black cabin contrasted by Mayan Gold detailing. The seats are upholstered in black leatherette with gold-coloured contrast stitching, while gold accents are also used across parts of the dashboard and cabin. The treatment is intended to give the anniversary model a more distinctive appearance without altering the basic dashboard layout of the Compass. Jeep is also offering specially curated 85th Anniversary AXS personalisation packages. Depending on the package selected, customers can add ambient cabin lighting, illuminated elements around the panoramic sunroof and a digital inside rear-view mirror. Front and rear dash cameras are also available as part of the anniversary accessories.

Familiar diesel power

There are no major mechanical changes for the anniversary model. The Compass continues to use Jeep's 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, producing around 170hp and 350Nm of peak torque.

The engine can be paired with a six-speed manual or a nine-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. The automatic configuration is also available with Jeep's four-wheel-drive system, while front-wheel-drive versions continue to form part of the line-up.

The limited edition therefore focuses primarily on exclusivity, styling and added equipment rather than changes to the Compass's performance or underlying mechanical package.

With only 85 examples earmarked for India, the Compass 85th Anniversary Edition becomes one of the more exclusive versions of Jeep's midsize SUV offered in the country. At Rs 26.70 lakh onwards, its starting price is identical to the Model S (O) trim on which it is based.
